039 WappingNumber 039 in the series of 250 New Towns is the project of a Mile High Tower standing over the Thames between Wapping and Rotherhithe, in Landranger 177. The idea for a Vertical New Town for 90,000 people built over London from Jonathan Schwinge, Neil Osborn, Ian Abley, and Andrew Sheldon was launched at the Building Centre's 80th Birthday Party, with thanks to Peter Murray, Andrew Scoones, and Jenny Watt. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Principles...

039 Wapping, London, showing the Ordnance Survey 1:50,000 Landranger Map key Jonathan Schwinge's 2012 Mile High London, dimensionally defined by Ian Abley and CAD modelled by Andrew Sheldon, is based on the 2006 graphic concept drawn to mark the 50th anniversary of Frank Lloyd Wright's Mile High Illinois. A Mile High could not be built in 1956. A megastructural Mile High can be built now in the Twenty First Century. ![]() ![]() |
