053 A4 Tunnel

Number 053 in the series of 250 New Towns is the project to replace the A4 Flyover in Hammersmith with a road tunnel, in Landranger 176. The idea for a replacement tunnel was publicised by the West London Architectural Society on 23 June 2012 as part of the London Architecture Festival. The Society members argue that the Borough can be reunited by running the A4 from the Cromwell Road to Hogarth roundabout in a new tunnel. This infrastructure allows the building of new housing, new schools, and a linear park in a New Town in central Hammersmith.
